The future of delivery service ... self-guided drones. Anyone see 60 Minutes Sunday night?
Amazon is planning for the future with delivery drones, and making Sunday delivery just another day of service.

I envision so many things going wrong with that, but who knows...

lol ....—" Finally, an unmanned aircraft could be used to deliver your very own drone. Just don’t use the new toy to start delivering goods yourself. If you do, Bezos might send his new drone army after you."

I think I posted a little while ago about an experimental Domino's Pizza drone delivery system.

I would capture the drone, take it to my basement workshop and beat and dismantle it, all to the tune of "Bad to the Drone"

Bad to the Drone

On the day I was bored
The pizza drone came 'round
And I gazed in wide wonder
At the joy I had found
The drone tried to speak up
And say "Leave me alone!"
But I'm tellin' ya, honey,
That I was bad to that drone

Bad to the drone
Bad to the drone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the drone

I had seen something about that on facebook, but decided it probably was a hoax. But...hmmm, if it could deliver pizza AND all my Christmas stuff - could be a good thing!!!! :p

Read about that but I think they said it would happen in about 5 years? I think they said it would be able to carry about 5 lbs., and 80% of what they deliver is 5 or under. Doesn't seem it would be worth the cost.

I immediately had visions of a lot of problems around here. I am in the rural south in the middle of hunting country. The local farmers paint 'cow' on their cattle around here so the hunters won't shoot them. Can't see the drones working here.

Thanks for the laugh Phil.

My thought too, Judi D--people shooting them down here....doubt they'd go much to the very rural areas, anyway.

I agree there would be drone shootings, hackers changing the delivery addresses and people stealing and holding them hostage, as well as the price increases either for delivery or for the products themselves.

One thing to consider though is that, while you would need to employ a "controller" for the drone, it might actually be cheaper - especially with less insurance - than employing a driver with a car. Fuel costs would probably be less expensive as well, but I can envision a nightmare the likes of which our air-traffic controllers have only dreamed of ...
