Drones

Hello,

I had a couple drones a few years ago.

My first was just a simple Quadcopter with no Camera or GPS Positioning or Gyro Stabilizing. I tired of it quickly and gave it to some neighborhood kids, who promptly crashed it.

My next drone had a Camera, but you had to land it and download the camera to your computer to see what you filmed. I sold that machine.

My next drone will be one of the far more sophisticated models that are available today, which constantly transmits the image it sees to your control box and presents it on a screen! You can save a single image or film the drone's continuous images as a video, stored in the control box memory.

Whew!

My Husband drools every time he sees one . We have 40 acres of hunting land and he'd love to fly over it and see what lurks in the areas he can't walk to.

Can you get a Drone that stores what it sends to the memory in your control box?

I don't want a Smart Phone or a Table or a Laptop to confuse me...I dont use 'em.

I would just download the image files or video from the camera or control box to my computer's photo/video files.

Yeah...that's what I want!

A drone would be something that I would possibly like to borrow. I don't see that it would hold my interest long enough to make a purchase worth while.

The BTO that I work for occasionally has a company that flies over the fields several times a year and downloads data on plant density, moisture, nutrients lack of or excess.

The data is downloaded into the GPS on his sprayer and application rate is adjusted for the needs of each particular sector. He also mapped the fields and installed drainage tile according to aerial data.
Fascinating technology but far above my paygrade!

Take a couple of shots at it. You won't see it back.

A year or more ago, there was a guy with a drone flying over a neighbors property, spying on a teenage girl sunbathing in her own backyard. The girls father shot it down. I do not remember all the details but...the dad was arrested. If I recall correctly it has to do with a law against shooting at an aircraft. Then there was the second charge of discharging a weapon in a non approved area.

Heard of another case where a guy 'swatted' one down with a bat....it was hovering , looking into his house. He too was charged , I believe with destruction of property.

My point is,...getting rid of one is not all that easy. Personally I have never seen one flying, and given that i live in a 'neighborhood' setting, I'm surprised I haven't.

In 2008 we had a small plane fly over and took photos, later a gentleman came around with finished framed pohotos and we paid $65..I believe a drone can now do the same thing.
(Check my album for picture)

You can probably check drones on YouTube to see some videos. Oi know that some realestates do aerial shots of homes and land they are selling..
.

Should only be a recreational activity in recreational areas. What would be the purpose in residential areas? That's not allowed here.
Thankfully, I haven't seen it yet. With the expensive land (limited) and because of that homes close to each other, I just can't see it happening here.

I would like one, but the ones in my price range don't have enough battery life!!

You get longer battery life when you pay more for your drone. You also get longer control distances. Everything is better!

I would suggest if you want these advantages, then pay for 'em!

I recently adjusted the price I'm willing to pay for a drone from $90 to $399...maybe more.
