Dryer balls

I had been thinking of using dryer balls, in lieu of fabric softener, so a few months ago I bought some large wool ones. Since then I have used them regularly and have found them to help reduce the drying time in my clothes dryer. Hopefully they will last about 1000 loads as advertised. About the only drawback so far is that they can be somewhat noisy during the drying cycle.

I've used some dryer balls that are plastic and have a sponge to add water {to get wrinkles out} with some success. They are noisy, as you've found, too.
Since I live in a humid climate, often no fabric softener is needed. I only add it when the humidity is very low. Saving money and the environment. I call that a WinWin.

Aside from the noise, I find they don't really reduce static 100%. My daughter gave them to us. Have gone back to using up the dryer sheets we had, before going back to the dryer balls.

My daughter taught me to use rolled up balls of aluminum foil - after many loads, they turn into silver nuggets! Very pretty, somewhat effective, but OH the noise!
