That was hard today. Have you ever been in the presence of a dog owner who you realllly wanted to give advice to? Even if they wouldn't listen anyway...How to gently suggest they might be a bit clueless in what they're doing. Even with the best of intentions some people just shouldn't be allowed near a dog.
This woman was a very stylish senior citizen. I'm sure she paid a pretty penny for this dog as well. A full breed golden puppy bouncing around in the way of young dogs. But she had him on a choke leash and was pulling him around behind her. If he wanted to sniff she sternly called his name and YANK.
When she got to the register I got down and he wiggled head to tail YANK. I suggested we have some lovely puppy classes in our store. But she insisted she was fine with the situation thank you very much. I wanted to tell her to get a proper harness and stop bullying that poor puppy. If she sees fear aggression someday she'll flip out.
So sad, he turns on her one day and it's back to the breeder or local animal shelter. Then she gets another dog.
