DuPont carcinogen C8 a/k/a Teflon poisons Firefighters turnout gear

Firefighting gear has carcinogens by itself or after it's exposed to heat/fire?

Condense and simply information in a paragraph. If one is interested one will click on links. But most don't have the time to figure out what something is about. Or watch a video when they can scan an article in a minute.

I did scan a few of the articles because I grew up in West Virginia where DuPont had several plants including the one mentioned in the article where Teflon was discovered and made.

A woman with kidney cancer from drinking water at the plant won a huge lawsuit because evidently they have known since the 70's that their product is dangerous.

The article talks about kidney and other cancers showing up more than is usual in people who work in the plants or live in the area.

From the article: "In 1981, two out of seven pregnant workers at the Teflon plant gave birth to children with birth defects."

My high school was in Nitro West Virginia, a town that sprang up during WWI to manufacture nitroglycerin to use in the war effort. By the 1960's when I was going to school we had DuPont, Monsanto and several other big plants making a cloud of smelly fumes over our school every day. Monsanto (maker of Roundup) always smelled like rotten mozzarella and most of us don't eat pizza to this day.

If we were lucky our fathers were chemists at the plants so we lived in nice suburban developments out in the country, far away from it all, but the poorer factory workers lived right in the town and never got away from it.

I can identify with this. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the summer of year 2017. My PSA was about 12 at time of biopsy. I revised my diet and took some supplements (Vit D) and actually brought my PSA down and kept it fairly stable at around 10-12 for over 3 years with MRI's not showing concern. But then it shot up to over 19, but worse yet, my last MRI showed some very troubling signs in the summer of 2021.

In my home, my oil furnace was not properly venting in the time about a year prior to the downturn! One could actually smell fuel oil in the home. So I had that dirty old oil furnace and indoor tank removed and replaced with a new gas furnace and arranged for "proton beam therapy" treatment at Mayo Clinic in fall of 2021. Since, my PSA as continually dropped to a level of under 0.5 as of two months ago.

Toxic air can cause cancer! And I would say if you have beginning stage cancer, make sure you have clean air. If you live in a polluted area, move. If you have a dirty oil furnace, get rid of it. Avoid breathing anything other than clean air. And adjust your diet to all non-processed whole foods, organic if possible. And exercise.
