Early to be, early to rise, make Johnny healthy, wealthy and wise.
I understand that we need less sleep as we age.My son goes to bed early during the week because he has to be up by 3 a.m. Sometimes he goes to bed as early as 7:30. Me...I'm a different story. I fall asleep whenever, often soon after I eat. I'm also up in the middle of the night, usually before he gets up. Seems like for the last year or so, much of my sleep comes in the form of naps. Supposedly that's not good for [my] health.
I don't think Ben had quite the coffee habit we have to day.I understand that we need less sleep as we age.
Also, that it is healthier to wake naturally than by alarm.
I go to bed when I'm sleepy, but I don't think that is good for us, better maybe to keep to a routine. My fav when I can handle it is Ben Franklin's routine:
I rise at 6
From 6 to 9: prepare for the day
From 9 to 1: work
From 1 to 2: rest
From 2 to 6: work
From 6 to 10: engage in evening activities as visiting, entertaining, leisurely reading and writing, walks and so forth
From 10 to 6: rest
