Easter essay on God and Jesus

This thought is very presumptuous. It is very poor science. My question is WHY do they have to be harmony, it is just one book? Is it inspired by the one true God?
Hmm well that's one school of thought - Moses wrote well as did some of the OT prophets but there are question marks about who wrote the new testament books for example - so it is a sorta mishmash but if under the Big Yun control then that's fine but if not ??????????

well he did after all say " sound science" not poor science? If we are of the belief also that God created the heavens and the earth as also mentioned biblically then all science must surely be God inspired and created? Perhaps in nature alone there is always harmony it just goes horribly wrong when humans interfere with it? Yes I can see Davids viewpoint not sure about claiming the 777 though??

I think people like harmony. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, it's not the way it is.

Agree was stated too narrowly, absolutely, good catch. Maybe tossed out as a terse statement for more impact. Really what needs being shaken up is the ages old religious versus science scholar world and that kind of statement will be taken notice by that audience.

is:
will always be in harmony

should be:
is usually in harmony.

you may not realize it PD ; although you probably do ; but you have just asked an extremely profound and deep searching question. Not being an expert myself by any means I would hazard a few guesses ; perhaps my learned colleague David777 [very apt name in fact - but later] can assist? Moses is said to have written the books beginning the OT and in fact apparently did have a direct meeting with God? atop a mountain [if I recall?]

Many other books OT again were written by appointed or self-claimed prophets [ all Jewish I assume? ] so to this day the Jews do have a direct relationship with God - despite perhaps their gross deviations from the preciousness of life at present ? Later in the New Testament so called the books were again written by scholars and the books then given names thus Matthew Mark Luke and John who may or may not have written the books in fact. Whatever - it is assumed and sanctified by many believers that all the books were inspired by God ; Christ and perhaps the Holy Spirit?? modern day rules of authenticity not withstanding?

So I would say personally that there is a strong thread of holy authenticity throughout the biblical books?

Never more so on the supposed meeting between Peter and Jesus - the ever faithful disciple that sometimes "put his own foot in his own mouth". Here in the attached story Christ is explaining to Peter what will happen to his message and teachings after he is gone. Something hard for Peter to grasp perhaps.

Take a look and make up your own mind Peter did apparently and once again got it wrong?

The start of Christianity?

Thank you @David777 you put a lot of thought into your essay.

What gets me is how religion(s) through the years perverted what I surmise the original intent of learning how to love unconditionally if that is what humans are supposed to do to acquire greater understanding of self and each one's place in the world? I do not believe everyone is capable of loving to the degree I speak of, however, perhaps our time on earth is for growth understanding rather than fulfilled achievements?

Who is to say we are likened to repeat life for the purpose of fulfillment or not? Death and the hereafter remains a mystery to me and until I know for certain I cannot discount the possibility of living repeatably as in the school of life. The big question is when do I graduate from the school of life and what comes next...? Perhaps that is all there is, life lessons upon life lessons with no ending only the beginnings of new life lessons. Who knows? Maybe we become gods or maybe just nothingness.

Why do humans believe there is something greater than themselves and accept the fact that somethings are beyond their understanding and let it be at that?
Humans for some reason, must provide an answer for everything, so god was contrived as a concept to provide answers humans could not conceive of...Thor god of thunder. Zeuz king of the gods, Aphrodite etc.. Christian god, creator, Jesus redeemer etc. Have you ever considered that god is not a deity but a concept within each person's mind whether you are a believer or not? The mere act of not believing in god is by choice an acknowledgment of god's non-existence.

People who claim being filled with the spirit of god including symptoms of oneness, wholeness, connectedness etc, have simply become aware of a different way of thinking than they are accustomed to, crossing from one side of the brain's hemisphere to the other, some call this enlightenment but it is only a different way of thinking. Christians are led to believe salvation is a product of accepting Jesus as lord and savior because that is what they are told to believe. They believe this without questioning the logic of this because of faith in the illogical. Faith is not logic it is a belief that convinces people it is truth without any merit of truth in it.

Ego death is the realization and awe of knowing you are a tiny but significant part of something greater than yourself.

You're right, Ed, but if one will except there is our creator GOD, and Christ Jesus whom, because of being all holy, pure, without a spot of any thought or action sinful during His presents among us, did, through His love for us all, took upon himself all our sins, allowed horrendous punishment for them in our place, a different way of thinking without consciously or deliberately doing so is logical. After I did, I gradually began to become aware of a feeling inside me concerning whether or not my actions, etc. were right or were wrong. Yes, I had a change in thinking, logical or not. :)
