Early Morning Rain: A great Canadian song. I first heard this song on a LP album that my brother Joe brought from Kitchener, Ontario way back in the 60s. Lightfoot was from Orilla, Ontario. I have seen 2 of his concerts in years past. My brother died over a decade ago but I still have that album and I intend to keep it. Sure beats the current crop of singers!

His is one of the couple of live shows I've ever attended. A small venue with his band in the center of a circular seating. I remember wondering if he would do the Canadian Railroad Trilogy. He waited until late in the show but he did it.

 
Years ago I attended a travel show about three college kids on a canoe trip up through Canada. As two of them were paddling and the other was strumming a Gordon Lightfoot song. A guy on the shore yelled out and invited them in for a cup of coffee. The guy told them he liked their music. The one responded "it's a Gordon Lighfoot song. the guy told them "yeah, and I was sitting right here when I wrote it.
