Egyptian tourist sub sinks off Red Sea coast, 6 killed, several injured

An Egyptian tourist sub has sunk off the Red Sea coast near Hurghada. Apparently touring the reefs which a big attraction. At least 6 killed and several injured.

Sub has been operating for years. Can only go down 82ft. Good news unlike the Titanic sub they were able to rescue many others.

Yikes! I've been down in one of those a couple of times, as far as 100 feet down. Made me nervous, both times.

Whenever I would see an old war movie that has scenes in a submarine, I would try to imagine how it would feel like spending weeks in a sub underwater with no place to go. I would go nuts. But then you have these little mini subs with 6 or 8 people crammed inside and they go deep into the sea/ocean. I could never do it. I get claustrophobic just thinking about it.

Some reefs can get just as good view on a glass bottom boat, snorkeling or diving. But yeh being submerged in a metal tube would take away from some of the sights.

WW2 Sub Captains could only stand the stench for a couple of weeks and then surface
in a calm area of the Pacific and let the soldiers swim for a couple of hours. Dang the
danger. The stench was the enemy in the steel tube. Of Course #2 and #3 and #4
maned the machine gun / lookout. Most likely the captain dipped and let them dip too.
