"Hasta la vista, Shorty.

Notorious Mexican cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was convicted Tuesday of running a massive, violent drug trafficking empire that for decades pumped billions of dollars worth of narcotics into the US.

The diminutive drug lord looked stunned as the Brooklyn federal jury handed down the verdict on its sixth day of deliberations — convicting him on all counts, including operating a continuing criminal enterprise, use of firearms and charges of conspiracy to import and distribute cocaine, heroin and marijuana.

Some 25 to 30 tons of cocaine — worth $400 to $500 million — reached Los Angeles each year, passing through legal border crossings, he said.

With business booming, Guzman was living large. The runty cartel boss owned four planes, a yacht and luxury houses across Mexico — including a ranch in Guadalajara with a pool, tennis courts and its own private zoo.

Chapo and his cronies flew all over the world to dine at top restaurants — and to Switzerland so he could maintain a youthful complexion with cell-rejuvenation therapy, Martinez revealed."

Rumor has it there already is another #1 drug lord in place to carry on...could this be true?

I don't doubt it for a moment , too much money to be made to not have someone step up.

Of course, there's always someone ready to step into the shoes of the Big Gang Boss.... always!!

Co-incidentally last night I watched a programme on tv about the most secure prison in Mexico ( El Hongo), where drug Cartel Leaders are imprisoned alongside murderers and rapists ..it's so secure there's never been an escape. perhaps, they'll think of locking him up there now, given he's already escaped twice from other prisons.. .

In all likelihood, he will be sent to the Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. That may be the most secure prison, ever. In the past, he has been able to bribe the Mexican guards/officials, such that he could escape....he probably wouldn't be able to do so in Colorado.

Thank goodness, there's finally a sensible verdict. Frankly I would have been terrified to be a juror on such a case; that man is pure evil.

Sadly, I agree...someone else is in place, surely.

El Chapo was tried in NY and will serve his life sentence here in the US, so we'll have to feed him!

I did see that the Alcatraz of the Rockies (Colorado) is where he'll probably go.

Anyone believe the Sinaloa Cartel will collapse and go away because El Chapo was convicted?

Even if it did what about these?
Medellin Cartel, Based in Colombia, Gulf Cartel, One of the oldest Mexican cartels, Los Zetas The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) described the Zetas as extremely technologically advanced and trained in paramilitary techniques. Juarez Cartel powerful rival of the Sinaloa Cartel.

El Chapo lived well now he won't

I hope he LOVES the supermax!

Inmates there have almost no contact with the outside world, and little contact with guards. They don't leave their cells except for one hour a day in a concrete exercise yard. They cannot see or talk to each other; the only telephone calls they have (which are very limited) are supervised and recorded. I seriously doubt he will be able to escape the supermax. They have security on top of security on top of security.

No, the Sinaloa won't go away, and neither will the others -- but at least one super scumbag will be out of circulation.

Sorry RR..I've been out all day.., almost bedtime for me now, ...

I tell you,if I was locked up for the rest of my life in that little space, I think I'd rather be dead!!...It gives me the shudders, but it's the very least he deserves for all the horror he's caused to families of addicts..addicts themselves, and the victims of addicts
