This election was mainly about immigration — both legal and illegal. So if you don't like the outcome of our election, thank an immigrant. Or thank those who caused them to be immigrants such as leaders who imposed crippling sanctions on the places from which they are fleeing. Or thank those who invaded countries and caused enormous suffering, which led to worldwide refugee crises.

That said, my grandparents were immigrants, but they had no choice. And I guess today's immigrants have no choice, either. They're trying to make better lives for themselves and their families.

I wish we had some stats to know for sure. I've heard it was about immigration and I've heard lots of people say it was about the economy -- folks went to the store, blamed the Democratic president for the prices, and so voted Republican.

I, personally, thought it was about abortion. I have Catholic friends and Evangelical Christian relatives who think it's a religious duty to vote Republican because they think that keeps the Supreme Court a certain way. I'll never understand how a medical procedure that I never heard of until I was in my 20's, has become an issue that figures so large in our politics.

Three days ago I told someone that Trump is going to win. Why? People are fed up with the old establishment and want changes.

Jobs are important, cot of housing, the nonstop violence on the streets and the cost of groceries. What is not important is buying tickets to see Taylor Swift, shopping for Christmas and getting married in Puerto Vallarta.

As for me, I don't even recognize my country anymore. You figure out the rest!

Obviously, the USA runs on the Majority rule's philosophy for a federalized form of Democracy with states rights.
There are always going to be the Lenon's and Communism forms + Autocracy and Dictatorship beliefs.

Vote some people out at the two year election while waiting for the another main event; which happens in four years.

As a life long democrat here’s my view, I am glad the red team has it all. For years, the red and blue have blamed each other for the woes of the country and nothing has gotten done. The red team says “they, and only they, can fix it.”

And America needs fixing. We all know, we need fixing.

SO. Get to it. Fix it. Show all of us what you got. The red has everything including all the responsibilities of what happens next. Show the blue team how it’s done. I look forward to it. Wish you the best. Hope you succeed. The blue team will take a vacation, put up their feet, and watch.

As for the leadership of the world, I’d like to leave that position to England or France or, yes, China or Russia: or any other large power. I am tired of spending American money in the Middle East, tired of the wars all over the globe, tired of being a money tree, tired of the whole never ending mess that world expects the USA to solve.

We can send money to Uraine, but we can’t fix the bridge down the street. Insane. We can feed children in Africa, but not in Mississippi. Horrific. And Doctors Without Borders do free surgeries in several countries, but not ours. What will it take to put ourselves FIRST?

We, the people of America, have made ourselves second to all the others citizens of the world. I would never vote for Trump, I would never vote Harris. I vote for , we , the people of the USA. We, the people of America, are tired.

So, yes, red team; the blue team graciously bows out. We know how to transfer power. We’ve put it in a pretty box, wrapped a bow around it, and handed it over. Show us what you got. FIX IT. You got 4 years.

Of course America will survive, and so will Australia, but the Pacific alliance will be fragile, and Xi knows that.

If the new prez actually manages to broker a deal between Ukraine and Russia, Xi knows the US would then be able to focus military effort and expenses in the Asian Pacific if necessary. I have a feeling Xi will avoid making it necessary, or at least delay any meaningful activity for quite some time.

Probably true, but I suspect that a very small percentage of the population are actually agricultural jobs. I suspect there is more to the story.

Oh, I think they learned. Whether they'll act on it is another thing. Like I said above, yesterday's result is a mandate against them as much as any issue. Given that and the recent Gallup poll showing trust in them is near the gutter, they'll have to make some adjustment or lose what little remaining relevance they still have.

Most farms today are huge corporations. It disturbs me that several Chinese companies have purchased enormous parcels of land which could become corporate farms.

It's been pretty civil but is beginning to disintegrate. When people use the term "low information voters" in reference to other people in the thread, that kinda crosses the line that led Matrix to ban politics. I'm pleasantly surprised it stayed civil as long as it did though. We made it 200+ before the insults started.
