CNN talked about this amusing race. Let me try and explain. One candidate is a Republican, the other candidate is a Republican who registered independent and is described as leaning towards the left. The democrats did not put up a candidate for senator.

Since both candidates are basically republicans the attack ads have to be careful not to ā€œbashā€ republicans, cause they are both Republicans in reality. Canā€™t wait to see the outcome. Will the democrats vote for the ā€œindependentā€ Republican or the republican Republican or not vote?

The anti-insurrection (independent) republican is moderate on many issues so he'll probably get the vote of Democrats, even though he supported overturning Roe v. Wade.

I'm interested in seeing the results. There has been so much 'Trump bashing' and yet his popularity is still strong. Biden is looking very frail and not fit for office.

I agree with @HoneyNut that the propositions are more democratic.

I'll be glad when elections are over because I'm tired hearing about them. It galls me to think (ie) that someone like Hershel Walker still even has a chance. I'm very disappointed that Dr. Oz has affiliated himself with someone like #45! So much of it is BS. I hate politics or as a Jamaican boyfriend I had back in the day use to call it..."poli-tricks".

I agree, and the votes of other registered independents and a few votes of some republicans. He could become a major player in the senate depending on the makeup of it, once all is said and done.

Such interesting times we live in. Almost glad I lived long enough to see all these changes. Politics used to be so boring the last few decades.
 
AS a Canadian who has observed US politics for generations, I see this current vote as coming to another stalemate . The strict 2 party system is a lock step. Neither party has any intention of trying to make any concessions in order to pass legislation that MIGHT actually benefit the public. There will be the inevitable claims of voter fraud and tampering, as has been the case for many years now. A lot of this is predictable, given the past history. Canadians have a vested interest in what happens in your country, as your closest trade partner, and next door neighbour. AS one of our past Prime Ministers once said " WE live next door to an elephant, and every time that elephant rolls over in it's sleep, we are in danger of being squashed ". That is still the case in 2002. JimB.

I believe that the state legislators generally don't have the courage to tackle some issues, they don't like to risk their political career. Letting the public make decisions on matters that most don't have technical expertise is shirking responsibility, IMO. Many propositions in California are backed by special interests as a big money maker. Prop 26 & Prop 27 are competing for sports betting rights, and have spent over $600 million.
My policy: when in doubt...vote "no".
