This is what I think as well.Using those dates as a reference, we are not that far into October that the provider should be showing you as past due this quickly. You said in June it was paid on the 12th. Since the 12th of October fell on a Sunday, and today (the 13th) is a holiday, no withdrawal could be made on either date. Maybe tomorrow when you can speak to the bank there will be a reasonable explanation or "fix" for this.
That the payment didn't come out of the bank sooner, due to the weekend along with the bank holiday,
And that the computer for the power company doesn't account for that.
My guess is:
The payment will probably be made tomorrow Tuesday or that night, meaning it would appear on Wednesday.
If the power company computer tacks on a late fee due to that, then you'd need to contest it.
I also did agree with the previous posters, so would initially treat it as a probable scam, till 100% certain it's not.
Now it does seem to have cleared that hurdle, and in my view it's part of the strangeness of current computerized billing processes.
