Is it really still used?

During the drama 'Mr Bates Vs The Post Office' one depressed suicidal character was given this treatment in hospital. She was in that state for good reason actually, her life had been made extremely hard. Surely it was not necessary to do this to her as well?

I found it astounding because I assumed such brutality had long been discontinued.

Yes, it's still used but the therapy is a lot more defined and refined from the somewhat-brutal therapy of yesteryear.

That’s what I thought this was about. I’ve got one also and they work great for generalized body pain. I used it on my lower back and hips.

I have a Tens unit too. Needs batteries and I think I’ll start using it again.
