Elvis Presley Died 16th August 1977 Aged 42

Do you remember where you were when Elvis Presley died? 43 years ago
I do and I was not far from my first Adelaide Hills home and driving around a bend called 'Devil's Elbow'....yep it was a sharp corner
My daughter was only 3 months old and it came across my fav radio station that Elvis had died....I couldn't believe what I was hearing
Elvis has been dead longer than he was alive but his music still lives on
I even belonged to The Elvis Presley Fan Club 😊

I was in Amsterdam and I accidentally got locked in my room and the only way out was the window that overlooked a canal and while I was considering whether I could make the dive, I heard noise in the hallway and banged on my door and I was rescued.

I was home taking care of my 4month old baby girl when I heard it on the news. I have to admit I really cried. I loved Elvis.

I was never an Elvis fan. But the late love of my life was born on Aug 16th, the day Elvis died, and my birthday is Jan 8th, the day Elvis was born. I always thought that was an odd coincidence

I was just walking across the street to attend a town council meeting when one of the police dispatchers called out to me with the news. I had tickets to his up coming East Coast tour in September. On one hand, I wasn't overly surprised due to his known drug abuse, but thought what a shame, a guy my age with everything to live for, etc. Oh well, it certainly is a pattern among these people.

I was living in Naval Married Quarters. My new husband was at sea for 7 months deployment. I was at home with my 16 month old.. and my friend and neighbour who lived at the end of the row of houses was a Huge Elvis fan ( I never was).. she had Elvis memorabilia everywhere in her home!

I heard the news report on the radio..''the King is dead''.. so later on that day I visited with my neighbour and asked if she'd heard the news.. she hadn't but when I told her, I honestly didn't expect the resulting hysteria.. she screamed, cried, threw herself on the floor, ..I was standing there *stunned''.. she had several small children, and she was screaming and sobbing like one of them had just died!!..

I loved Elvis from the age of about 5

At home when the announcement came on TV, my heart broke for little Lisa Marie, only nine and knowing there was something wrong with her daddy at the time .....

I remember that day, as if was yesterday.
Was living in Leaf Rapids, northern, MANITOBA.
Was a great shock.......and loss.
His music was a great part of my life.
Continue to " REST in PIECE "

His passing was a shocking, seminal moment for many in our generation, myself included. I'll always be a fan of the man and his music.
