Email from Facebook - Is This Real?

Any dodgy email that I get is forwarded to the anti-phishing
people here.

Real emails from my bank or any other account that I pay are
all dumped, then I contact them separately and ask if they sent
the email, if they did, I answer the questions on the phone, another
no, no, for me is to answer a survey from a shop where I bought
something and they want my opinion as to how they did, that goes
in the bin.

Maybe I am too fussy.

Mike.

Very common email notification, when an online account is logged on to with a device that doesn't have that website's cookies to recognize.

In this case someone with a Google Pixel 4a cell phone logged on to your FB page.

Nothing nefarious or spammy or spookie, just what websites do as a small attempt at looking like they're trying to protect the user.

After I install/re-install a new operating system on one of my computers, I dread logging into Google, as they require a Two Factor Authentication whereby they send a message to my cell phone, which I have to hunt down and acknowledge. Later, a forboding email appears in my gmail inbox stating: "someone using Linux tried to log into you account".....oooooh
Thanks, Nathan. That makes sense now.

Oh maybe one more question. What do they mean ‘logged onto your FB page’. Why doesn’t this happen when anyone looks at the rare thing I post on FB?

‘logged onto your FB page’ means logged into your account, complete with user control. People just looking at stuff on your FB page are just looking, not logged on.

This ended up in my junk folder. I don’t know if it’s real. It looks like it. I was about to Report the User that it wasn’t me but the link went to what seemed an unusual address and I backed right out.

When I check the facebook address it says security @ facebookmail dot com. (This was all one link)

I tried to look for help in FB with no luck.
I get these when I use a different device than usual. I use mostly my iPad, but if I use my phone to log in instead, I can expect the same thing.

This isn't about emails but clicking on things you think are OK. I will be reading some news item on MSN or CNN. And there will be an interesting article, so I click on it, and the computer goes crazy. It disconnects from the net, with big blue lines across the screen- Harmful site!!!!! You expect that if your checking out a sketchy site, but these are reputable news outlets???? this happened a few times.

I have Norton antivirus and there is an option that I use called VPN (Virtual Private Network). I use it on Facebook and this forum. It might sign me in on a server at any state and town within the USA. It is a means of better security, so I won't be tracked. Each time I do that on Facebook I get a warning like you have described.

I've never used that anti-virus software but I had read it was problematic before.
Jules, I tried to find ways to contact FB about it directly and all I found was Join Group (for different customer service related and reporting issues). Good thing it's been resolved to your satisfaction.
