Email scam using UPS name

The other day I received an email under UPS heading saying they were holding a package for me due to “insufficient postage” and if I would click here they would tell me how much money I had to send them to get my package.
1, UPS has nothing to do with “postage” ; all shipping charges collected in full up front. Even the USPS will return insufficient postage to sender rather than COD.
2. I always know what to expect and where from, I use tracking & Friends and family always tell me if anything on the way.
I called my local UPS store where I have a “virtual mailbox “ for all shipments due to package delivery problems at the apt. They hadn’t heard about it, were glad I told them.
 

On thing to check with emails is to look at the header. Most of these bozos who send this stuff out, don't know enough to spoof the real sender email address and you instead will see the sender's address which is from no place you would recognize. I have yet to get one of those fake emails that has a properly spoofed sender address. Even if it says "ups" somewhere in the sender's address, there will be something obviously phony about it.

Even if it does look correct, NEVER NEVER click on a link provided in the email!!!

Instead, as the OP wisely did, call the company to verify that the content of the email is not fake.
