Words enter the modern vernacular and by implication they become loaded words, the spin doctors love them.
Over a period of time these words change to mean something quite different to their true, or original meaning.
  • Do you know what I mean?
  • Have you recognised the process of the apparent change of meaning from the historical definition to the popular?
  • How wicked is this thread?
  • Can this thread evolve without becoming political?

Words can evolve like anything else ... some times for the better & other times not.

In some cases the change is more about twisting of the word's meaning to make it loaded & negative. This is something that's done intentionally by one or more people who have an agenda they want to forward at any & all costs by inciting people in order to reach their end goal. They don't care who is hurt, how much $hit they stir up or how ugly it has with long lasting negative outcomes.

Yes, this thread can be wicked & only time will tell.

To answer "Can this thread evolve w/o becoming political?" - that remains to be seen, but I would say yes. I've seen non-political threads go political in a flash. Maybe I'll be wrong, though.
