Entire Family Dollar store staff walked off the job is enduring months of extreme conditions. Problems started with a manager 5 months ago. Basically the same staff in an under staffed store was over worked.

Too bad I think this was a store feature on Undercover Boss. A bunch soppy crap. I think they've been bought out or merged over the last 10 years as well. I will say during the early days of the virus their service and conditions were the worst. They actually had tp, paper towels etc but the local store was a mess. And they were one of the first stores to run out of/not offer change.

Wish the article would have said if the store was privately owned, a franchise, or what. I think post-lockdown workers have some leverage right now to demand better pay and better working conditions, but they probably only have a small window of time before many millions of people will be out looking for jobs.

Every single time that I go in to this store, there is no cashier at the front. We have to wait in line for them to finally appear. They do look under staffed and over worked, come to think of it.

Our local store is closed but no signs. Don't go in there much but it's in pretty sad shape!
The store was a terrible mess and had one employee to put away all the merchandise and run back and forth to the front check out.
The employee was SO overworked and almost in tears!
I think the whole chain will go under soon. (Government handouts, Chinese goods. poor management)

I very rarely go to Family Dollar...no need to when there are so many real dollar stores around named Dollar Tree. The working conditions at that store must be abysmal considering how many employees they go through on the regular. Good for the former employees for not accepting that.

I don't know why but there is a real labor shortage, My urologist used to have two offices about 30 miles apart. But he closed one during Covid, but he can't find any employees to staff the other place. All the old employees have left for better jobs, after getting furloughed. He said he'll have to sell the other office. I was at a Dollar General, when an employee got stuck with another shift. He had come in to work an extra 4 hours, but was asked to work another full shift. He was angry and left, that left the owner/manager(?) alone in the store. Even the place where i get my haircut is in desperate need of employees. They have signs up all over the place. I don't believe it's because workers are thrilled to be living on 1/2 their previous pay, while on unemployment. I think it's because there has been a two year hiatus in filling jobs due to Covid, now we need workers, but there aren't enough people to go around? I dunno.

It seems to have affected every kind of business. Back in March, I ordered some new floor tiles for my tiny kitchen. They finally got installed a few days ago, 5 months later! The store owner kept apologizing, saying it was taking forever to get anything shipped.

Same here we go to Dollar Tree. I've delivered loads to both stores in my driving years and I have to say that Family Dollar is really disorganized. I talked to the employees while getting offloaded and they were not happy working there. Dollar Tree Headquarters is located about 3 miles away from where I live. I've pulled loads out of there delivering to different States without any problems. I can see Family Dollar closing its doors in the near future.
