Ever had a near death experience?

I was just thinking about the time I nearly drowned in the sea...I am not a strong swimmer...and don't usually go deeper than my hips..I was in the north of Spain...the sea was a bit wild, but the weather was boiling hot..so in I went...

I was standing there hip deep when a wave knocked me off my feet..I could feel the undercurrents dragging me out to sea..I was gasping..coughing...and my feet did not touch the sandy bottom...I was being rolled around like a piece of flotsam..I tried shouting help but there was no-one there, and I couldn't breathe by this time..

A large wave arrived and threw me towards some rocks...and kept on banging me against the rocks which were covered in barnacles and were lacerating my body as I tried to climb out..

With a last effort..I managed to climb onto these rocks...pouring with blood...

30 mins later, a man turned up in a small boat and took me back to shore...

Scary!!!

Hi Twix, you had a lucky escape there ,i almost feel the fear you was going through.i had a near drowning in a swimming pool .a Teacher had to drag me out ,,if he had not see me go down and not come up i would have been a goner.

When I was in the Marines in Vietnam. The report stated that I was struck in the upper left quadrant of the chest between the shoulder and heart. The blood was pouring out like a faucet because the piece of shrapnel had struck an artery. I thought that I had met my fate. Thanks to a quick thinking and working Medic, he saved my life. I was 5 weeks short of completing my tour. Instead, I got a ride to Okinawa. As I laid out on the field, all I thought about was my Mom crying her heart out. That was the worse feeling that I ever had in my entire life. I think that's a near death experience. As an airline pilot, I can tell you stories of close calls. Falcon understands about close calls in the air.

I was hit by a car when I was young, a drunk driver came up onto the sidewalk. I had a concussion and was given my last rights in the street. Luckily I was okay afterwards, and just suffered a couple of broken bones and stitches here and there. That was the closest for me, being in the ambulance, I wasn't sure how serious it was.

Yeah, once I was riding a white horse and realized that I was being chased by a bear. Right behind that was a lion and a tiger and several other wild beasts. I saw my life flashing before my eyes. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and holding on for dear life. Then, the carnie stopped the carousel and told me to get off because I was scaring the children. I'm banned from the state fair for life.

Ever had a near death experience?

Yes, Viet Nam.

Then in the early 90s I was blisterng down the Cajon Pass trying to get to work on time- was going 75mph+ when I saw a pile of snow and ice in my path that I could not avoid. I prayed, let off the gas did not touch the brakes and held the steering wheel with my white knuckles. That was close...

I have been in plenty of crazy situations which could have killed me, mostly down to my own stupidity.
