Growing up in Southern Ca. I never owned a Parka type coat for the winter.
A simple flannel or fleece lined coat always did the job. Never had to wear snow
boots to go to school in either.
Moving to the Mid-west at age 29, Those 2 things were the hardest to adapt to.
That big bulky coat made me feel like the Michelin Man, the boots felt like I had
Clydesdale feet. I came to appreciate them but love them, still don't.

You ever have a change of that sort you had to adapt to you have never come to love?

For me it would be heat and humidity.

I have friends that moved to escape the ice and snow but spend most of their time trapped inside air conditioned homes, cars, and businesses to avoid the heat.

I really enjoy living in Central New York but might enjoy a place with three seasons similar to parts of Tennessee as I get older.
