that you just have to stop and stare? I’m not “into” cars; never have been. They don’t excite me. A few friends/elatives have Porsche, Mercedes, Corvette, BMW, and even a Bentley. Big deal.

The other day I had lunch with a friend at a trendy restaurant. When we walked to the parking lot I stopped because I saw a car so beautiful I had to just gawk. It was a Jaguar, midnight blue, and very shiny. Don't know the model.

Then a man (resembling a younger Richard Gere) came out and walked to the car. I caught his eye and said “Okay, you can use my car but I need it back no later than 6PM!” He laughed, and (when I asked) told me it was a 2013. Looked brand new. That was some piece of machinery. Wow.

“Okay, you can use my car but I need it back no later than 6PM!”- LOL, cool line, AC. Did you get a date or are you keeping that a secret?

I don't know, AC - every time I owned a 'Vette (3 of them total) I would park it, go into the store, come back out and fall in love all over again. :love_heart:

I had a Jag XKE (the long, low one) but it was a "Mechanic's Special" and it never got far from the driveway. It was just a brief affair. ;)

I just saw a '31 model A Ford painted metallic gold. Looked showroom fresh. COMPLETELY restored.

We see a lot of that stuff here. The Hispanics have always been fond of "CHEVVIES" and they do a great job 0f restoring them but also waxed
to the 9s.

I'm absolutely not a car snob, if it's fairly modern and gets me from Ato B without any probs at all then I'll like it. My o/h has a very powerful sports car ( not mentioning the Model but it's Red , expensive and very sporty)...he's a car nut..but me these big expensive cars do nothing for me at all. I would never be attracted to a guy just because he drove an expensive model car, and I have little interest in being a passenger in one..even in my husbands' car I think I've only ever ridden in it a couple of times...waaay too low for me and scarily fast.. a real Boys toy!!

That said...give me a beautifully restored vintage vehicle ( which we have in our 45 years old VW camper) ...and yes I would definitely be proud to call it mine...but high end luxury cars??? for me personally no...

I agree, Holly.

However, I came out of a store recently and saw a long, low, sleek, black, spotless, shiny something or other sitting there. My jaw 'bout dropped to my knees. While I was putting my stuff in my car, a woman came out and approached it. I said, "Nice ride!" She laughed and said it belonged to her boy friend.

My daughter drove a Camaro. I think the color was called purple mist. I'm not sure what model it was but it looked like this. It was a thing of beauty.

Fanciest car I ever owned was 1972 AMC Javelin. Humps on front hood....kinda looked like a 'vette. Royal blue, top was white with blue strip. It was actually a good car. But my 1963 Buick Electra (paid $150 cash in '71) was a decent ride. One of my uncles had a Buick "deuce and a quarter"

My first bf and I used to "park" in his dad's 1962 black Cadillac with fins. (...sigh)
He smelled so good but the bastard broke my heart.

but....I digress.

Best car I ever had was later in life ~~> Toyota.

As a person who does enjoy beautiful cars and cars that are built for speed, I have seen many beautiful cars. I have been to hundreds of car shows and will be going to Corvettes at Carlisle Show today in Carlisle, PA. Some 5000 Corvettes are expected. http://www.carlisleevents.com/carlisle-events/corvettes-at-carlisle/ The Jaguar makes some spectacular machines, including their drivetrain, which is considered as one of the best in the industry. Their engines are unique and I remember when the made a V-12. I have shown a picture of my Corvette a few times, but it is just a real beauty in my eyes.
