@timoc Patriotism, I know where to go to have that feeling grab your heart and squeeze it so tight you can't breathe. I was visiting my son stationed in Germany and we went to the club on base for karaoke night. When the song came on "I'M Proud to an American" all the soldiers stood up side by side, arms on each others shoulders, swaying in unison to that song singing as loud as they could. I will never forget it or the sound of their voices and still get tingles thinking about it. It's sad to think they are all over this world, maybe doing that very same thing while at home we have what we have. I wish every American could experience that scene as an observer.And....
I wonder where that pea went that fell off my plate onto the kitchen floor?
Seriously though, I, like Lewkat, I find myself looking into mid-air looking for answers and most of the time never finding the answers.
That's easy. The pea went to the same place as the sock that keeps disappearing in the wash.And....

The 'zombiefication' of young people. Governments like it.I was just going to say the same thing. Altho' buried in a phone is happening very much here, and they're not aware of their surroundings.... and the young now don't seem to be able to hold a conversation face to face... everything else in the list is still very prevalent here... but for how long..
Oh I'm certain of it...The 'zombiefication' of young people. Governments like it.
Miss you @WrenI wonder how I’m still receiving ‘likes’ for random posts going back 5 years and more ! But thanks anyway![]()
I wonder why one makes a political post on a thread clearly asking about what you wonder about?I'm going to say it. *sigh*. As Samuel Johnson (1776) wrote, ""patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel". I see "patriotism" used today, mostly, to justify heinous beliefs and acts.
Morality is also problematic, since it's mostly - apparently - based on a Christian belief system. Christian beliefs in the US have been shrinking for decades.
My hope is that we reach a point where we value life, humanity, friendliness, and helping neighbors at a level above other doctrines.
I grew up in an area where you were considered to be weird if you spoke to anyone you didn't know. Then years ago, moved here where people were pretty friendly (which is the only thing I liked about this place because the weather is awful) and now they're not friendly anymore around here. So maybe it's a trend?I wonder about most things all the time. Like why people don't even say hello anymore is one thing.
