And we don't know how they know which one started it but they know.

At the boarding kennels my daughter owned in the mountains, she had space for 46 dogs.. usually in summer when the owner would go away on holiday, was her busiest time so all kennels would be full... sometimes 3 to a kennel.. BIG indivdual kennels.. and they were outdoors...as soon as one started barking so went up the whole lot.. you can imagine how that sounded, nearly 50 dogs .. and even if the ringleader stopped the rest wouldn't.
Their barking was so loud that it would set other dogs who lived over the mountain..barking and howling...

There are five or six dogs that live on this road. And it is very true that when one starts barking, they all join in. You can tell you which dog it is by the bark. My little girl is in love with Mac-the-black-lab and Hoss-the-Old-English-Sheepdog. They both walk off leash and when they come to the fence, my little girl just goes crazy; I can tell which dog it is by the way she barks and squeals. It's too fun!
