I was shopping for plain almonds. They have smoked, wasabi, barbecue, honey roasted, salt and vinegar, spicy sauces, etc. Do they ever consier people may want plain unsalted nuts?
Oh gosh, I remember my mother doing that. She'd park herself in front of the TV, with I don't know how many lbs of walnuts and start crackin' away. We all helped. They are still around in some stores, more so in the fall and winter around here. I still remember as a child having a couple of bowls of nuts in the shell with a cracker lying next to them. We also had a small trash can for shells nearby.
I love walnuts. I use them in banana and pumpkin bread. I put them in my cookies and brownies. I use them in fudge. I like them in chicken salad. Often just strait out of the bags. Maybe that should have been my user name LOLI get my walnuts and almonds shelled out of the big bins at Winco, sold by the pound.
The walnuts get used for my 3 ingredient banana bread.
I love walnuts. Love to put chopped walnuts in my yogurt, also in brownies, etc. They're also good for Omega-3. I have to be careful with almonds, though, particularly when they're raw because they are hard and it's easy to crack a tooth on them (did it once). Roasted are easier to bite.I love walnuts. They're usually around here only around the late autumn and early winter - probably because of Thanksgiving and Christmas. What happened to the big bins of nuts in shells?
I love brazil nuts as well but I have not found them in a handy bag or can. To get them I have to go to a certain store where they sell them in bulk bins. I am not over in that area very often. They are also quite pricey so it is a once in a while treat.I'm the Opposite to you Walnut lovin' Gals.. I cannot stand the taste of Walnuts.... but I like every other type of nut. My favourite is Pistachio, and Brazil nuts
