Apparently we DO get chiggers here in Ontario. I didn’t know that however this is definitely poison ivy.

That is a Lone Star Tick, not a chigger. Important to know the difference, as the ticks can carry many deadly diseases.

I get chigger bites unless I DEET up. The itching can drive me goofy, unless I use calamine and/or baking soda paste.

PI is an occupational hazard, in my business. I can even break out if my guys are cutting wood with vines attached. I need antihistamine shots if I get a bad case of it. Terrible!

I just did a quick google search and picked a pic. Lol! But thanks for the clarification. I’ve never seen them before but they are microscopic in size.
I’ve probably gotten them and not known what they were. It’s country living and bugs are certainly a big part of it.

Yeah I’m sure you must experience a variety of poisonous vines in your field of work. Poison Oak is similar to the ivy but less conspicuous. Antihistamines most certainly work. Speaking of which I should take some now. I forgot about that stuff. Thanks for reminding me. 👍

I get it every year and you’d think that I’d be much more careful but I forget about it. There had been a few times I had to venture of the path due to motorcycles or horses coming through so my dogs are smack dab in it and don’t think to wash their paws when we get home.

Many of my regular places I walk are being forested for trees so are closed down to pedestrians walking, biking, riding etc so I had to go elsewhere.
I forget about the poison ivy until I actually get it.
I’m sloooowwwwww! 🤦‍♀️

I don’t think I’m allergic to it. When we first moved here I got it really bad but the reactions have subsided each year. This year I did a lot of caring my older dog in the really warm weather forgetting that when she rests her paws on my hands or arms, I get it. I’m going to put this warning on my calendar and phone but I think I’d get it every year anyway since there’s so much of it around here and we explore. We aren’t the play it safe types. 😅

I rubbed her down with wet paper towels when we came in. So far, so good.

I was cleaning up a Live Oak that had Trumpet Vine all over it. The client was a Brit who told me that she loved the stuff, as she had it in England. About fifteen minutes into the job, my arms were on fire, under my long sleeve shirt. I had second degree burns! I had to ask the client for a wash cloth and soap, and then borrow a shirt from her son. I went home, after the job, and read up on those buggers. Yep, they cause bad reactions in susceptible individuals.
 
Wow I didn’t realize the trumpet vine coreactions. Apparently the sap and bark can cause dermatitis and the leaves cause what’s known as cow itch.

I would have never considered the trumpet vine to cause such adverse reactions. Much of this I suppose you learn as you go since most home owners won’t know. I really like the trumpet vine too.
 
When we bought this house there was poison ivy all over....My husband took a very long time to get rid of it....But he didn't get poison Ivy...
I did only when I was a little girl, cause our home had poison ivy from other home's near us....After a while Mom and Dad had people to
come and cut everything down...except our beautiful apple trees....
I don't have poison ivy in my backyard anymore....But in the summer we have a lot of bugs....So instead we put stones around the pool
and cement and walkways....We have grass in the front of the house...

Hahaha. That’s what I call our neighbour. Sleeps all day. Up all night and rarely if ever leaves the house but pale as ever. One day she commented about the fewer wrinkles she had than her sister. I reminded her that she’s a vampire who never sees the light of day so no surprise there 😂
