Eye issue today it seems

I used to suddenly get the feeling that shards of glass had flown into my eyes. Thank God it only lasted a couple of seconds. My specialist said it was due to dry eyes. Since using Systane Ultra on a regular basis it hasn't happened. But about 6 weeks ago, she told me to switch to preservative free drops. After trying a couple of different brands, one of which was by prescription, I ordered Systane PF from Amazon, but I haven't used it yet because I have some of the Ivizia left, which I got free from the office. Used Miebo (also free from Blink RX) once and it made my eyes blurry, so I won't use that again.

I have used Systane PF Pro a long time OneEyedDiva and it works fairly well for me.
 
My eye discomfort is directly related to a cancer surgery I had back in 2013 to remove a growth from my lower lid. They had to remove most of my lower lid to get it all, and so I have no lower lashes on that eye.

I have some scar tissue inside my eye where my lower lid used to be, which gets inflamed when my allergies are bad, and that causes discomfort. More than that though, the area still grotesque an occasional lash or two, but they grow towards my eye and when that happens it feels like I have grains of sand in my eye 24/7.

At my yearly appointments, as part of my visit my optometrist will search for those tiny hairs and tweeze them out. In between visits when I notice the irritation, my daughter takes care of them.
 
For more than a dozen year, I have been using 'Bion Tears Lubricant Eye Drop' purchased from Amazon.
It's pricey, but it's worth.
Prior to this specialized eye drop, I purchased and tested more than 3 or 4 eye Lubricant eye drops and none of them gave me 'relief' for my dry eye.

'Bion Lubricant Eye Drop' is well worth, because it's ONLY, this eye drop works and giving me, as if my natural eye lubricant.

I used to get the regular Systane Ultra 3 pack from Costco when it was on sale. Apparently hat is not preservative free. I don't know if the Costcos that we shop at carry the Systane PF (preservative free) because I haven't been in a while. My son usually does the Costco run for me. Next time he takes me, I'll check it out.

@Pappy Glad to know the Systane PF is working well for you. I swear by that brand, so I hope it will for me too.

Does anyone else use the eyelid wipes? Or use hot compress treatments?

I have this heating pad for dry eyes I use often. I only use it on low setting. Other settings to hot. Amazon.

I am on 4 different prescription eye drops for glaucoma. I still use OTC eye drops occasionally for dry, itchy eyes. My glaucoma specialist said to use name brands, not store brands. The issue seemed to be the preservative in some eye drops is not the best quality. I purchase preservative free.

Just one of my prescription eye drops cost me $420 for a ninety day supply. That’s my cost after insurance pays their part. 😠

I just came from the eye doctor last week and was told, because of my consisent use of the eye medication, I have staved off glaucoma again this year, Plus the prescription of dark transition lenses helps. Fortunately the VA covers everything.

Wow that's high. No wonder an gf wanted get some of mine..... But mine arrive exactly on time and just enough for me.

Thank you for letting me know Costco sells the Systane preservative free. It would be nice if Costco would have that one on sale like they do with the other one. What I have now will probably last for a few months because I haven't started using (them) yet. By then I will have gone in person, so I'll see if they have the PF. Would you believe we have three Costcos fairly close to where we live.

I don't know that I'd change to the Hydration variety, if I like the Ultra PF. I like to go with what I know. I was given sample of a different variety of Systane (not PF) after being treated for an eye issue. I didn't like it as much as the Systane I was using (also not PF), so I only used it once or twice. This is what I ordered from Amazon for less than $20.
