Eye watering excessively

I have an appointment with my ophthalmologist on Friday. My eye started watering suddenly on September 16th. Not one to rush to a doctor for every little thing, I thought it might resolve by itself, but now it's been 4 weeks. Actually both are watering more than usual, but the left eye it is like running down my cheek and the vision is blurry. No redness or discomfort otherwise. I have had cataract surgery in both eyes and no allergies that I can link to this.
 

I have no idea, what is causing that, but it is a good idea to get it checked, at this point. I'm glad you made the appointment.
 
My eyes water during the winter months due to dry eye from the heating indoors and the cold winter wind outdoors.

My eye doctor recommended eye drops but I just let the tears moisten my eyes as nature intended them to do.

It's always best to check with your doctor and see what is happening then you can make an informed decision on what is best for you.

Back from the doctor. He seemed less concerned about my eye watering (it isn't conjunctivitis, thankfully) than that I was showing early signs of glaucoma. He said to try to relieve the watering by applying a cloth soaked in warm water for 5 minutes every morning and massaging my eyelids. I also have to take prescription eye drops for the glaucoma.

Sorry to hear about the glaucoma, but
it is good for you to have gotten caught up about addressing that.
 
My only beef is that the ophthalmologist I've been seeing for years has sold the practice and retired. The new management wants payment up front now and I hadn't brought my checkbook (assuming they would send me a bill as usual). Had to pay cash right there. Then the new doctor was kind of curt. When I asked him questions, he either didn't reply or answered with the stock phrase, "I'm here to help people!"
 
It looks infected.
I usually steam my eyes with salt water if they are aggravated but good that you saw a professional.
Too bad his bed side manners are non existent.
 
I had the same thing with constant tearing. Went to ophthalmologist and was diagnosed with dry eyes! Apparently tears do not contain the natural bodies lubricate to help it but having dry eyes causes excessive tearing. Started using TheraTears drops and problem solved.
 
maybe one of your tear ducts are blocked.........then the other eye would water more !
