Love those Fran.. its a shame to cut them for gem stones.. I`d love to have one just as they are..
ain`t nature grand ! I love all these ones you posted and specially love emeralds, and sapphires..

also I never knew that sapphires can come in all different colours I always thought them as blue..
SapphireBTG-1C.jpg

Sapphire is the non-red variety of corundum (the red variety of corundum is ruby). A 9.0 on of hardness, sapphire is the second hardest natural mineral.
Blue is by far the most popular color for sapphires, but they can be almost any color, including yellow, green, white, colorless, pink, orange, brown, and purpl

Oh yes...sapphires are part of a family of beryl (I think that is what they are called) and come in many colors. The most common is blue.

Yes. I know. I have loved Opals all my life. And it helps they are my birthstone.:)

Same here Fran..also my birthstone. However, I have had no luck with opals. Everytime I get one I manage to lose it. So far I have lost one beautiful stone from a a ring down the toilet..didn't realize what I heard clink until I flushed, one whole ring in a riding arena, recently one beautiful earring. I have a nice opal ring my brother gave me some years ago, that I don't even dare wear..I know what will happen..LOL

@Fran, these things are stunningly beautiful What a joy to look at them.

You have a clear talent for things aesthetically stimulating.

Absolutely beautiful!!!! I have always been a rockhound, and can't imagine finding something so gorgeous - I would be in seventh heaven even if it wasn't worth much.

Thanks so much for sharing those, Fran!!

Fran, checked out your Pinterest. I loved the quaint cottages and decor pics. I got a couple of good decorating ideas come spring. Oh, please spring, come early and don't tease me anymore!

The sculpture of the rabbits pulling one rabbit out of the pond was adorable. I would love to get my hands on that, I have quite a rabbit collection. When I have more brain power I'm going back to browse more slowly.

Thanks for sharing!

OZ, I too love opals, and lost a couple. Thereafter I began takeing all my rings to the jeweler, and had extra prongs put into unnoticeable areas for more security.:cool-new:

Yes, I found out after the fact that opals are soft gemstones and don't hold well in the prongs..I need to take my ring in and have the stone tightened in the mount and add a few prongs. I never wear much jewelry anymore, shame because I used to spend lots of money on it...now I wish I had the money..

I'd love to have a gypsy trailer. Heck, I would love to own a tipi!

Opals are very delicate and need to be oiled often, too. Sometimes I use olive oil...but most of the time I just rub my finger along side my my nose where it is semi oily and just rub it on the stone. It helps protect it. :)
Cabachons are best, too. If you are going to add prongs..why not see if they can do a complete upper band along the top encasing the whole stone?

Here's a girl after my own heart, i have many beautiful crystals some rare, i am blown away by nature and all the beautiful crystals , you have a great collection in there Fran, i first got into them when i lost my husband and was searching for some peace, i used to visit a new age shop and instantly would feel at peace, of course the couple who owned it were lovely and warm which made my visits happy ones,i had a few spiritual experiences there as well.
I have quite a few books on crystals and love looking at them and finding out how they formed etc. Thanks for putting the link on here.

I took my cyrstal with me when I had my mastectomy. I told them what I had in my hand and to make sure it was there when I was awakened with one less boob. It was.
I love my crystals. I use them all the time. When I ache in my joins, I rub my clear crystal over it...or hold it in my hand until it is so hot from my body it is like a warm bit of magic touching those joints and owies. I cleanse them by putting them in the earth for 24 hours. If I am in a hurry, I put them on top of a table outside, under a full moon.

Funny thing about this is...when they were injecting ink into my nipple to see how many nodes were affected (if any), the guy doing the procedure saw my clenching my crystal and said his wife drags hers around with her too. As he was injecting (which hurt like hell), I began to chant and he chanted along with me. He knew the "song". After the first poke...I didn't feel the other 3.

In my collection, named This and That..there is much about crystal power in there. Might wanna check it out too while browsing. I put all the stones in Jewelry Box, but I put their meanings in This and That. :)
