This young lady replied to a post about a recipe for a cake. She is unknown to me and or my friends, it was a reply on a public announcement.
I clicked on her name and her Facebook Page came up. She lives in a small town in South Texas, went to a local high school there. He husband's name is Richard and a daughter named Faith. Many family photos of her and her friends.
It just goes to show you how easy it is to look and find people. If you play games or reply to public posts, unless you have your information private, you are wide open for theft!!!

Sometimes "nosiness" and "boredom" takes over me :eek: and I start to look up people on the net. Some of the things I have found amazed me. If I can do it ... I can imagine the personal stuff that a person who knows what they're doing can dig up. It's scary how much info about a person is floating around!
 
It's definitely a good idea to review your privacy settings and lock them down.

I'm amazed at how many people give up name, address, date of birth, etc... on FB without giving it a thought. I'm also amazed that people tell the world where they are at any given time so someone could easily break into their home when they are away having dinner, on vacation, etc...

Some of my family and friends go beyond the normal security settings and have FB accounts established under a fake name so it is more difficult to locate them or the details of exactly who they are.
 

"Privacy" on the Internet...and, especially these Social Media sites...is non-existent. ANY personal information a person posts is out there for anyone to see. Even worse, there are several sites, where, for a small fee...usually about $5...a person can get a complete history of someone else. It's no wonder that Identity Theft is becoming a major problem.

So are you saying that you stole it? Or do you know that it was stolen by someone else? I don't see that you found out anything that some casual acquaintance would know without FB.

Yes, I copied her profile photo and info. She left it all out there for anyone to see by just replying to a cake recipe.

That is exactly what I was trying to show the forum. Scammers/ hackers post on Facebook looking for responses that they can hack..
One member here says she plays games, posts on sales pages etc..Just showing that pictures and information can be easily obtained by just replying to public posts on Facebook..

I think it's crazy to let the whole world know when you are not at home! Why do people want to do that?? Might as well put a placard on your door inviting burglars in and letting them know how long they can take to rob you.

Well, the title of the thread is "Facebook ID Theft Example". I'm just trying to understand who had their identity "stolen", and apparently the answer is "nobody". The info Ken found isn't really much different than what is available on here. And since Ken & Don and several others use their own pictures as an avatar, and give their home states, etc, they have both exposed themselves almost as much as the young lady on Facebook. I just don't see that there is any lesson to be learned by what was in the original post.
