Facial Hair and women

It is an embarrassing, perhaps even a taboo subject. Personally I have always had problems and so I use an epilator - very effective, and tweezers as needed. This controls things very well.

I saw an elderly very nice lady I know as a neighbour, and as usual she had virtually a full beard! Her daughter is usually with her - can she not help her mum in this matter? Sometimes I see ladies with such obvious facial hair I feel for them. There are after all, so many ways to get rid of it. Or do they not care and perhaps it doesn't matter to them?

My mom had a cousin, who had a mustache. You couldn't miss it. I asked my mom why she didn't just shave it off. Mom said shaving it would make it grow in darker and bigger. I don't know if that is true. My mom has a million cousins, and all you have to say "the one with the mustache", and you know who they're talking about.

Shouldn't be embarrassing, its natural. I generally like average natural looking women, of any age. However I do have to admit to some prejudice on this one. I prefer the appearance of women without it, but have no problem knowing it was removed. Wish I could say otherwise...

I'm skeptical, but when I was younger, just getting into puberty I was told the same thing about my beard. So I tried shaving a lot, never made a difference...

No — shaving hair doesn't change its thickness, color or rate of growth.

Shaving facial or body hair gives the hair a blunt tip. The tip might feel coarse or "stubbly" for a time as it grows out. During this phase, the hair might be more noticeable and perhaps appear darker or thicker.

Does shaving unwanted body hair makes it grow back thicker and darker?

After years of my cousin pointing out my blonde facial hair, I'm finally going this Friday to have it removed.
The method this girl is using is called sugar waxing. I've been skeptical about it, but my cousin assures me that it won't grow back dark.

Fingers crossed it all goes well. 🤞

previous poster was correct about shaved hair. it's the proverbial "old wive's tale" that hair grows back darker & thicker. once shaved it growns back with a blunt end... not smooth and tapered like other hairs.

Ah my hairs were gone from my face, but when I got home from Walmart yesterday, a middle button on my shirt was undone. I try, but I can't keep up with all this nonsense.
Thank goodness you didn't draw any sex-crazed creeps. We have to be careful not to turn everybody on.

** Finely slice a small organic red cabbage, sprinkle lightly with sugar, marinate one hour in apple-cider vinegar, chill, and throw it out.**

It's so easily controlled really, just find a simple regular method as part of your self care routine. We have so many options these days. It's a pest but same as looking after all other aspects.

Thank God Ive never been a hairy person. I'm so fair skinned... I only have to shave my legs once every 4 or 5 months.. and even then there's hardly anything to take off. My friend was blonde but she had a fine line of hair above her top lip.. she never shaved it, but 10 minutes before she was going out she'd bleach it.. ridiculous.. just get that thing epilated.. I know I would if it was me...

Many years ago one summers day I was on the bus, and sitting opposite me was a woman with a dress and bare legs... and I swear she' had harier legs than a monkey... it was horrible.. never seen it before or since.. but really either she didn't care ..( which I kinda feel if you're wearing a dress with legs like that, then you can't care)... or it was some awful condition...

Never even considered that. I just figured I looked like I was mentally challenged and wondered how many people snickered while I walked around doing my shopping.

Working in nursing homes over the years, I've noticed elderly women with hairy chins. Some have more hair on their chin than men. Of course with women, it's real hair as opposed to whisker stubble. There's one woman at the nursing home where I work that has a hairy chin. I tell people that she needs a trimming, but the aides only shave the men. Maybe they expect family members to do something about it.

Ladies be warned... If at Christmas you get one if these wee shavers with a light. Stay away, return to sender, exchange ASAP...

I've used the one I'd received as a gift. I'm now having to wax my chin every 4 weeks. Nightmare!!!

Regarding my legs, I shouldn't have bothered and fall under the pressure at 16. It needed shaved too often. I suffer from folliculitis and I've some pores with 3 hairs each. I've told daughter not to bother and her legs look great, she can go bare leg no problems.

Regarding my own legs, around a decade ago, daughter found legs shaving pads, which look and feel like sandpaper. She took care of my legs as recommended, once every 3 months.

That was it! My legs have been bare ever since. Magical!

Lessons learned.

@Supernatural Okay, give all the details on those shaving pads. I have the chin under control, hate to admit but this girl shaves her chin on the regular when I shower. My eyesight has gotten so bad I miss the little b******s. I even have to go outside with a magnifier to do my eyebrows.

All of that would not bother me but the hair on my head just keeps getting thinner. Used to take me 30 minutes to dry my hair, now it like 5.

I've never had to shave my legs. When I was 12 I used to rub my legs with a pumice stone to get rid of the dirt, it must have killed all the roots and never grew back. Everyone thinks I always shave them because it looks like I have sheer nylon stockings on..
