Fake and toxic foods proliferate in China/Food safety issues are shocking...allegedly

There is no concept of the FDA equivalent in Asian history. Period. "Caveat emptor" all the way (and in a corollary, why one should never invest in Chinese stocks - same non-regulatory history).

Mainland China's pollution and food (im)purity issues are off the charts.

I'll admit to skipping the actual video due to the fear of what I'll see. But I'm not surprised by the title in the least. I wouldn't buy anything made in China food wise but the thought is, what can originate from there that we don't know about? And it ends up in our food.

Here's the scary part...
China was responsible for about 90% of vitamin C that was consumed in the United States.
It was also responsible for 70% of the apple juice, as crazy as it may sound. Other food products that the US imports from China in larger quantities are tilapia, cod, mushrooms, and garlic.

Take note.... As of 2019, things are cooling down. U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has recently reached a compromise with Chinese authorities. American farmers will be able to ship poultry to China for processing and packaging. The processed products can be shipped back to the United States, and be labelled as “American raised chickens”. The meat does not need to be labeled as processed in China.
For you folks who blindly trust snopes, take note that their mixture of true and false uses 2013 as the source. As of 2019, that has changed.

i've never touched it and i never would.
It amazed me that a fish that can be grown here in the US would be imported, but, then, I puzzled over how it could be cost effective to raise peaches here, ship them to china to be canned and the ship them back here.
Another problem I see is how do you know you're getting the same chicken (or other product) back from China and not some unregulated processed crap that's raised over there?

You don't know unless you rely on a government agency of some kind.

Remember what they did to our dog food some years ago? Many dogs lost their lives because China put plastic in the food!
