Fake Cellphone Towers

Didn't a big city police department get caught using a system like this and had to shut it down?

By the time this stuff hits the news there's probably a lot more going than most politicos will admit to.
 
I dont know about police dept but this is the first Ive heard of this one.
 

Tacoma police have been using a Stingray device to capture phone calls.

Also noted in the original article is that if your smart phone speed slows it's easier to intercept and pull data. If your smart phone is running a little slow today...

The US is not alone in 'slurping' data and phone calls. The Australians are in on the action as well.
