Fake Notice from McAfee

I received what appears to be a scam in the form of a receipt for $313 dollars for three device protection plan from McAfee. I never purchased such a thing as far as I know. It does not say what type of card or account was used to pay for the service. The email address is some guy's name and gmail.com. It's gives a number to call if you have questions. I did not call. McAfee's scam reporting site gives a list of legitimate email addresses it sends messages from, and most end in McAfee.com. At any rate, this address was not on the list.

Fake Notice from McAfee, I get those all the time. The funny thing is, I don't use Microsoft Windows, or any Windows software. What's really amusing is that I recently got an email from Microsoft, advising me of their changes made to my account....which in reality I don't have.

I supposedly ordered a protection plan that McAfee thanked me for--and something about 618.00 dollars. Yeah, right. Like I have that much money to spare. lol But I did check my bank account to make sure it was a bogus email. (Surprise! There was no withdrawal of $618.)

Yeah, I'm going to keep an eye on my bank and credit cards too, because there are are so many ways to accidentally wind up in some promotion, and end up clicking to leave, but maybe signing yourself up for something or other without knowing it. I'm like Nathan. I don't use Microsoft or McAfee. In fact, my Linux operating system doesn't even support McAfee, as far as I know.

Used to get phony emails, claiming to be from Amazon. Amazon gave me an email address to forward them to, and that was the end of the phonies.

All of my notices, auto renewals, etc… from McAfee were real and relentless, I had an awful time ending my relationship with them.

They did the same with me. I guess they are counting on getting lucky with some absent-minded geezer capable of mindlessly agreeing to his own execution by firing squad and smiling complacently while being unceremoniously mowed down.

Funny how humans are motivated into a relentless frenzy of dishonest activity when money is involved.

That one was a first for me. I wonder how I missed it for so many years.
