We were shocked not too long ago, to have a hawk fly onto our balcony where a few pigeons had come to roost. It didn't get any, thank goodness. I think it may have been flustered with which one to choose, and the limited enclosure of the balcony. When I looked out the window, it had it's wings spread out. I then opened the balcony door, and the pigeons took off.

I would be devastated to see a hawk take a dog.
