I would go at the cockles and seaweed cakes with some trepidation. Let's face it we have reached the age that we might as well give it a go, it could be our next favorite thing! The rest is just a normal breakfast.
I remember being horrified at being presented with a bowl of chopped onions topped with a pile of pickled herring for breakfast on the old Queen Elizabeth in 1967. Now, I'd be delighted with that (but maybe not for breakfast) but as a teenager, I was appalled.
I can't face that sort of thing any more. I much prefer the "continental" type of breakfast - croissants with a selection of cold meats and cheese.
When I worked in Finland, I could have all manner of fish - especially herring for breakfast. Sometimes I'll have smoked haddock or salmon with a poached egg. Yummy.
Cereal with wholemeal toast for us this morning.
