"Not forgetting the supersized inflatable boots at Rick Owens — a collaboration with 21-year-old London-based designer Straytukay. The theatrical boots bloomed from the knees, as if to protect against the chaos of the world."

"According to the house, the Vuitton iteration is 15 percent larger than classic Timberland boots and will be manufactured by the Vuitton factories in Italy. Still want more? Look out for a limited-edition version in Vuitton’s signature monogram complete with 18-karat gold eyelets. Each will be sold, naturally, with it’s own shoe trunk."

Humans are apelike animals. The proof is when someone comes up with some garish, "designer" clothing, if a few wear it, we'll all ape them. Just think of the clothes we used to wear.
yes but when have you ever seen anyone walking down with the street wearing the vast majority of the clothing that's used on the catwalk...like those in the pictures ?.. never is most likely the answer, so I have no idea how these designers make their money.. other than designing normal clothing

Who actually sits at their computer and writes this s**t?
I remember many years ago when the chain Benetton opened a store in Sarajevo. The cheapest item in the store, a pair of baby socks, cost more than the average weekly salary of an inhabitant.

The company's quote was that "the opening of the store brings a feeling of civility and hope to the war-weary city".

Gag me.
