The one I have ( Iāve got 2 pots of it ) I had growing in the ground in Adelaide ā¦.in small shade house ā¦Yes indeed. I love them too though I haven't had much luck growing it. We are pretty arid and I don't irrigate much. A native fern related to maidenhair ferns is the Five Finger Fern, Adiantum aleuticum or Western Maidenhair Fern. This one I have tried to grow so many times that I no longer am even tempted to try growing it. They have a beautiful stand of it at one of our nearby bot gardens.

itās a typical Aussie house block about 20 mtrs wide ā¦43 mtrs deep
Most āgardening soil ā we have was purchased due to the solid limestone we have here ā¦.most of veggie areas is raised garden beds , purchased āgood soilā by trailer load for RGB but itās horrible dosent hold moistureThat describes most parcels here too. We are wider than most at 100 feet so about 30 meters but also 120 feet deep. Originally we were zoned commercial but had it changed to residential sine that cuts the tax to half. I have friends who just go ahead and water daily but for a short time early in the day. But Iād feel guilty doing it.
I wonder if you have it in a fast draining medium? I believe they are one of those that want both good drainage and moisture.
Got a photo ? Iād love to see that ā¦.We donāt see many maples in South Australia itās to hot in summer for themOur Japanese Maple drops its leaves in late November / mid December. Some get on the Cement front Porch.
with a gentle rain they get wet and leave real cool prints on the cement. I power was them as
they fuzzy out in the spring. Its like I planed the printing of the cement with Maple leaves every
year.
