Curious what kind of tea you are referring to? I love lemongrass with ginger tea that I drank often in Thailand.

I'm not sure exactly what's in it. I order something called Thai Tea Mix wholesale from the distributor. It's a loose black tea you brew in the coffee maker. Unique flavor and smell and an intense orange color. If even one grain of tea skitters loose it turns everything henna-like orange.

Forgot, I have a basil plant in the window and love the smell of that.

Yes I love basil fragrance! Two more great smelling house plants are rosemary and lavender. A big sunny window and regular trims, very easy to grow.

Googled Thai tea mix and ingredients said orange blossom, star anise, tamarind.

I should have asked at the cafe what they put in their lemongrass/ginger tea. I know there was something else as well. Best tea ever!

Snow -- apparently it has a smell, I love it, I think its the smell of ozone.
The Ocean
Pansies
Chocolate cake
Baked potatoes
Rain falling on a dusty road
Wood smoke
Clothes dried in the sun on a clothesline

Shalimar perfume. Sigh.

My favorite aunt's signature scent was Shalimar. Even after she had passed her house still smelled like it for many years. If I close my eyes and whiff Emeraude or Shalimar, my Mom and Aunt are in the room with me.

I like a lot of what has been posted here but I have a few odd ball ones also. My Grandfather would gather, what he called punks. They grew in the wet marshes along rivers and streams. Long brown spongy thing, like a large hot dog, on the end of a strong stalk. He would dry them. In the summertime he would light the end, stick it in the ground near the area we were sitting and it would smoke to keep the mosquitoes away. Very nice smell to them. Also citronella which is another bug repellent. I also love the smell of WD-40 which loosens screws and such. Not so sure it is safe to be sniffing that stuff but I do when I use it.

Ameriscot, I never knew what a nice smell basil had until you mentioned it. Bought one today to keep my rosemary plant company. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've got one in the kitchen window and it's nice to smell as I do dishes. Hubby bought one when he picked up some groceries yesterday.

Orange groves when the trees are in bloom.

That was my introduction to Florida. We flew down from Detroit, leaving a terrible ice storm behind, and landed in Orlando at midnight. The old Orlando airport didn't have "jet ports", so you had to walk down a set of steps from the plane, cross the tarmac, and walk into the terminal. At that time, there were orange groves on three sides of the airport and they were in full bloom. The aroma almost knocked me off my feet.

I'm weird in that I love the smell of mothballs (makes me think of my grandmothers' houses).

I really think the love of that smell just has to be associated with the love of your grandmother. It's amazing how smells can bring up memories.

gardenia is intoxicating-in the Spring I'll have to find another one. I had a large one potted and it lived several years, even bloomed in winter.

cherry pipe tobacco-my grandfather smoked a pipe

lemon furniture polish

In addition to many of the previously posted smells I also enjoy the smell of hot tar, vinegar, cinnamon, vanilla, celery, garlic, apples, wine.

Some sources say smells trigger memories more than other senses.

I forgot to mention the smell of a pipe. Love it. Reminds me of grandpa.

I completely agree with that. I hope this isn't TOO MUCH INFORMATION for the forums as I don't want to offend anyone with oversharing as I have slipped and done before..but.. My father always wore Old Spice aftershave when I was a kid. When I was little we would get up early on Saturday and watch cartoons together with him laying on the floor on his back and me sideways on my back with the back of my head using his belly for a pillow. The smell of Old Spice always reminds me of my Dad.
During my marriage my ex once had bought some Old Spice. He came in the bedroom from the bathroom wearing that. He popped in the bed and wanted to get busy. When I smelled the Old Spice I said " Oh man don't touch me all I can think of is my dad right now & I am so so turned off. You will have to get that Old Spice smell off you & never ever wear that stuff." I don't think anybody wants to think about their daddy during times like that.

An intense memory blast, open a fresh can of play dough and take a whiff

Ditto strawberry Quik

Cotton candy

Oh and roasting chestnuts, when my parents used to take me into the city it cancelled out all the other smells.

For some reason, the smell of Pla-Doh made me nauseous. I could smell it three rooms away. My sisters have never forgiven me that they couldn't have Pla-Doh; my mother made up some sort of substitute dough from flour, cornstarch, salt and food coloring but according to them it wasn't the same at all. Apparently, I warped their childhood.

See Lon mentioned hot tar, even over bus emissions, tar makes me stick my shirt over my nose. Likewise gasoline, who knows when your beater will burst into flame?

Hot Tar ewww makes my teeth ache in a weird kinda way when I smell that.
But I do like the smell of
Peaches,
Fresh Dill,
Fresh Cut Grass,
Old stores, book and antiques,
Grape Hyacinth flowers
Fresh Cut Cucumbers
Vinegar
