Using hand sanitizer? Might be good to check that label. The Food and Drug Administration is adding more hand sanitizers to its list of products to avoid because they contain methanol—which is toxic when ingested or absorbed by the skin, USA Today reports.

Yeah....it might be toxic but does it prevent Coronavirus?
Seriously, You can't get it unless you touch a surface that has the virus on it, then touch your face. It doesn't matter what virus you have on your hands. And soap & water have no toxic ingredients.

Kinda makes me wonder if that's in our sanitizer at work. I may have to look into that.

I can't use a lot of those products. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and the odor affects me bad. I bought a sanitizer for cleaning surfaces, like Lysol and had to give it away. I used it once and then had to go back over everything I cleaned with Dawn and then vinegar to get rid of the smell. Could not breathe.

I only use hand sanitizer between the time I leave a store, post office, etc., and get back into my car. So a handful of times a week at most.

I bought it in early March, which I hope means it was made from safe ingredients.

I just checked my store bought stuff & it has that ethyl alcohol in it. I have no idea what our medical stuff at work contains. I will be looking into it.

My guess is that none of the methanol based sanitizers actually list it in the ingredients. The labels almost certainly state safe-to-use ingredients regardless of what's actually in the container.

Some of the ones with 70% ethyl alcohol are methanol.
