Fed up? Feel free to vent here, and get it off your chest!

I have many days when I am sick of the news, doesn't matter the source - radio, TV or print, but today I'm super-sick of it. The tension of everyone yelling and blam-bustering about current events gets to me, and I don't/can' t understand why news managers can't make more broad-based choices on the stories they cover.

Only a very few news providers do that. With everyone else it's like watching or reading addicts get high. Like you're at a bad college party and you see one room, the News Room, is full of addicts bouncing off the walls. It really is. They get addicted to one topic.

You know who actually has calm, balanced news? Canada. I think PBS will return to its balanced self in a day or two, but even they were like on a news bender last night.

In the meantime, no matter who wins what, many segments of society are still a hot mess. But no, they will not be telling you about any of that today - or heck, maybe even for the next six months!

But damn it - if they send some 25-year-old reporter out to do a story about a RESTAURANT, I don't know what I'm going to do. Mail them a tortilla, I guess, or whatever bread-like item the restaurant sells and write "THIS IS NOT NEWS!" on it.

Yup. I can write that on a dinner roll with a Sharpie.

That is what they imagine is balanced news - lots of car crashes and politics, and then a damned restaurant story.

Who invited arthritis into my body? I didn't invite it. It just showed up one day in 2008. I may have fell down the last two steps on my staircase. I may have hurt the ligaments in my left foot at the time. But that doesn't mean that I had a Welcome mat inviting the arthritis in. Should I call the cops?

Only on a slow day call the cops about that. They might like the laugh. Pick a Tuesday, but not a Tuesday after a 3-day weekend.

No love, I do not get my news from Facebook. I am going through another period of ignoring the news and focusing on the Renaissance and Reformation. Instead of turning on the news, I watch DVDs of college lectures.

It is nice to have an agreement about the awful news shows we have today. Something unfortunate happened to a woman, and at a time when we seriously need to know why students are protesting, we were given this woman who was emotionally out control and telling us how bad things are for her. Gag me with a spoon. That is not news and does nothing to make a well-informed voter. Our local station repeats the weather several times between yellow journalism stories.

I don't know how to get news that should get our attention because it is important to our understanding of reality in this moment. What do you think of the Wall Street Journal? I am so hard to please. I can get the Journal online but I like to hold printed information better. However, then it becomes an ecological problem, cutting down trees, recycling the paper, you know. 😥

I would pay for things online if I could do so with a check. I don't like giving out my banking info and inviting people to deduct payments from my account.
The thing that's sad about TV news is that they have expanded a lot to add online streaming news, but holy cow, it's often so similar to the traditional TV news. They will even cut & paste the same stores to the stream side.

Want to know what's going on at the city council meetings in your area? Good luck with that - neither trad TV news or the streaming news will tell you.

But they will have a weather segment every 15 minutes, even if the weather is boring.

What REALLY ticks me off is "customer service" people who cannot speak clearly, speak slowly. It's bad enough that the agent cannot speak English very well. Now that I think about it, what should tick me off even more is the moron who hires a person who has a problem with verbal communication to work in a customer service capacity with the primarily English speaking public. It defeats the meaning of customer service.
The company saves money. Sometimes we haven’t bothered calling for a relatively small complaint because it’s not worth the pain of the conversation.

The other day I had a great young woman. She obviously wasn’t from the US, since she didn’t know what the Great Lakes were on her map. She was so pleasant that I accepted the token amount of refund she offered.

I use PayPal. It comes out of checking but there is a step between. No banking information given.

Last week I received a letter. It was a parking fine for 22 April. The day I bought my new car. By the time I received it, the due by date had passed by 2 days. I immediately paid it hoping that extra fees will not be added.
After I paid, I studied the ticket, it was issued at 10.39am on the Monday. I never took possession until 5.30pm that day.
The dealership were responsible for the fine. Someone would have seen the ticket attached to the windscreen but chose to let me take the rap.

You need a benzodiazepine

But what about the canned responses that you are given, followed by a non-answer. When I encounter those situation I simply ask to speak with a manager, if I then get the same barrier, I ask for the next level. The worst part of that is repeating everything from the beginning. Catch 22 got me.

I really cannot pinpoint it exactly. I am simply FED UP! I think a lot of that has to do with my past and current relationships with women. I am a nice, decent guy, but I always seem to hit a wall with women. I really believe it is due to the feminist movement and all the crazy thoughts it has put into the heads of women. I sincerely believe that. There, I said it.

Crazy thoughts? Like we should get paid as much as the man working next to us doing the same job? Or that women should have a say in their own medical care? Or that women should be able to open a bank account without their husband's permission? Or that little girls in school should be told that they can be doctors or lawyers if they study hard and those jobs aren't just for boys?

A feminist is a person who believes women are equal to men under law. If you disagree with that, if you think women are lower in value than men and should not have equal rights with them, no wonder you're hitting a wall.

It's just the arrogant contrast that comes off so uncaring... that I sometimes can't contain myself.

I don't get it. Is this dog food? Are you saying we shouldn't feed our dogs well, because there are homeless people? Why not contrast homeless people and expensive cars, or homeless people and $1000 watches, or homeless people and 3000 sq ft homes for a small family, or homeless people and $1000 stilettoes?

Feel Free to believe an Untruth, and to blame others for your disappointment. Btw, glad to see you back.

I absolutely knew you would be poking your head in here. I honestly am not in the mood for a discussion or a reply to your retort.

I can say, however, that blaming others for my disappointment is a comment which has layers of ambiguity.

Ta ta and have a delightful day.

You are picking and choosing points of what feminists stand for. I do not wish to discuss with you here. Besides, this thread is to vent frustrations, so leave it at that.

And you just finished putting down ALL women. Your bad relationship had nothing at all to do with you. 🙄

This is getting so off the mark, it's becoming funny. I happen to LIKE women. I know you probably cannot fathom that, but it's always been the case with me. Feminism, in my view, has taken the woman out of her natural role as child bearer and family maker to a place that is inconsistent with the idea of the family unit. Just my opinion and I am not seeking any discussion here.
