Fed up? Feel free to vent here, and get it off your chest!

i think i am a magnet for freaks. a friend of mine is non stop preaching about how our future looks with this government. yes i am concerned but i can't spend the next four years worried about it every minute. she is so depressed and tells me WE have to do something now and WE cant let them! rah rah rah. i find myself avoiding her. ugh

I can relate to your freaky friend.

I used to suffer (and I do mean suffer) terrible, crippling anxiety attacks when I worked in DC. I was close to agoraphobia at one point. And I, too, was claustrophobic, especially on the subways. I always carried a paper bag, like you mentioned, @gruntlabor.

Hang in there, @Pepper. I know that's a LOT easier said than done. If there's one thing I have learned from my long struggles with anxiety it's that if you give it an inch it will try to take two miles. I'm sending you a hug.

I still struggle with anxiety, although not as often as I used to. Because of my history of Xanax addiction, any form of sedative or medication to alleviate it is out of the question. So I beat it back with fury, sort of like "You're not taking any more of my life!"

But again, that's very easy to say but not so easy when the anxiety has you in what seems like a death grip.

I had panic attacks before there was a name for them. They began with marriage and motherhood.

I moved the saab 900 around the corner…not my car. Old car with this feature where it has to be in reverse to remove the key. Now will NOT go into reverse…so key in ignition…

I may have already mentioned this, but geez! I'm so tired of seeing online articles about what I should/shouldn't wear (right down to my shoes!), what's trendy/what's outdated, what kind of haircut I should have, ad infinitum.

Then there are all the articles about how to decorate my home. Ugh. Remember the old country song "I'm going to hire a wino to decorate my home"? LOL

In the past couple of weeks, there have been lots of articles about how to avoid "tacky" Christmas decorations.

Then there are all the "best time" to do things...best time to take meds, best time to take supplements, even the best time to drink morning coffee.

Pffft. I'll wear what I want to, go barefoot if I feel like it, get my hair cut any way I want to, decorate to suit myself.

Give. It. A. Rest. Quit telling me how to live my life!

Dang! I forgot...there are even articles about what we should and shouldn't eat and how to "style" what we do eat. WTAF?

How about the articles about food that swear only lower class people make for dinner? Or the ones that list "retro" dishes that "nobody" makes anymore? Those nobodies still make things like meatloaf and stroganoff. Imagine!

Holiday meals? You know, the dishes that have been served in your family since time began? Well. That's just not done these days. You gotta change up the menu and serve new recipes that speak to today's tastes. Heck, it's yesterday's tastes at the holiday table that make the holiday meal special...stuff that our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers served.

Maybe I'm done ranting. For now.

When I thought there couldn't possibly be another "expert" who'd tell us all about whatever the next new thing is...sure enough, there's one online now saying we've been arranging our furniture all wrong. Chihuahua!

Yesterday there was an article saying we shouldn't eat so much chicken because we'll get stomach cancer.

And just FYI...I rarely read the articles because reading the titles is more than enough to put me off!

The what we should and shouldn't eat is getting to be ridiculous. It's been back and forth for years ( eggs are good / eggs are bad ) ... now days pretty much everything in the USA is bad for you.

I understand trying to eat healthy, avoiding overly processed foods - etc etc ... but this whole 3D printed meat, bugs in the food supply, chemically lab grown food... etc. I'm afraid to eat anything!

I so agree CaliS. Coffee, chocolate, butter, etc were once bad for us...now they are good for us. The FDA doesn't have our backs (much of the time). If we've lived long enough to qualify for being on this forum, eating what we eat and doing what we do and find ourselves fairly healthy, I think we're doing good. ☺️

I don't pay attention to any of it anymore. What a Good Citizen I used to be, keeping my energy and water usage way below average to save the planet, gave up eggs, bacon, beef for lower cholesterol (didn't help), switched from plastic to glass for food storage, using cast iron instead of non-stick cookware, the list is long. I was had.

My eyes were opened with the Covid crap. And fraud everywhere.

I believe none of it now. Eff them all.

Seems like we're both having the same kind of day. I'm hoping it gets better but not counting on it.

All food is bad. Only meat, preferably raw, and fruit are okay. Bread bad, vegetables bad. Anything all these generations have eaten for thousands of years are bad except the Eskimo diet. My son has been listening to some youtuber about a carnivore diet. His dad had enough of it and said: you take him and now he asks if he eats bread and vegetables and macaroni cause he's worried and I lie: yes sure he does. Pffffff. Now I have to read all that dumb stuff to prove to him that it's healthy or he won't eat it. He's 16. If he gets too annoying I put my earplugs in. Lalala can't hear you.
