Feel Free To Make Fun Of My Birdhouse

I am going to hang a sign under it reading "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home"

In my defense, I do have a nice new one but the birdies started building in this old one before I could get it up. And the birdie babies came out day before yesterday and mom and pop immediately made plans for another batch.

New one goes up next year with a squirrel guard.

Well, it IS well ventilated! And perhaps they have used the same place, year after year - There IS no place like home!

Why would anyone make fun of it? I use to have an old steer head with horns hanging on the side of my barn, every year Bluebirds nested in it. After twenty years that head was about the rattiest thing you could imagine, but I wouldn't get rid of it because the Bluebirds liked it. Who was I to chose their home? lol

Your box is very nice, doesn't like it needs replacing for a
long time, Lee.

Won't the squirrel be able to jump across from the bush,
they are very agile little animals.

Here is a link to a live camera in a nesting box in Yorkshire,
the man who put it there built the box from part of a tree
trunk, he is a wild life photographer and was on the news
on TV last night.

Cute Lee... and the garden is beautiful too...

This is a little bit of my set up.. I have 2 nesting boxes, one in the tree, another on the fence in the style of a British Post box.....

With rents being what they are now days, you should be full up for the foreseeable future Lee. I have a wren house right out side the kitchen window, and they do have quite a set of pipes for ones so small. I have Blue Birds that nest in the cab of my backhoe in the overhead every year for as long as I can remember. I use the machine often, but it doesn't seem to deter them in the least.

I’ll bet you go through lots of seed !
Yes I certainly do. So much, that I had to find a place to store it where vermin wouldn't be attracted to it, so I bought a new wheelie bin, and it's used solely to store bird food..
