If I can't dance, I will alternate between cleaning, and jumping online to research either what I'm blue about, or the FACT of being blue. I'm looking for both inspiration and explanation.
Snuggling with my demons does seem to disarm them some.
When I'm blue, which is actually quite rare, like many who have already commented I do something physical. Dance, go for a walk, clean, exercise - something that gets the heart rate up and moves my attention elsewhere.
You have to DO something. You have to get off your ass and perform physical work. It doesn't matter if it's navel lint cleaning or whatever, as long as it's physical activity. NIH states, "Physical activity could be an effective target for strategies to change mood states."
Same here, Ronni! Sometimes, I put on Youtube videos of international competitions from some of the most beautiful ballrooms in great cities. Of course, I do that when I'm in any kind of mood, but it really pulls me out of the occasional slump as well.
