Apparently this is a thing now — kids identifying as animals. I think it’s just plain nuts, and nuttier still that parents and schools don’t put a stop to it. And these aren’t kindergarten kids, either. When did feelings take precedence over reality? Imagine actually treating these kids like a cat. Feed them Friskies in a bowl on the floor. Sorry, Kitty, pizza is bad for cats. Cats don’t wear clothes. Cats pee in a litter box. And cats don’t go to school. oy!

Why does this not surprise me?

Long, long ago I had a young relative who asked everybody to call him "Doggie." (he was very attached to the new dog his parents had bought). BUT: he was TWO years old, AND grew out of it quickly.
It's like individuals these days can't distinguish between play and reality. And I do not believe it's helping kids one single bit.

Every feline in the world is insulted! As they should be. How dare any human claim to be of the most excellent feline species.

I don't care how smart this girl is, she clearly has an insatiable need for attention. Too much is enabling people.

Times have changed, and maybe that's not a bad thing.

IMO it shouldn't be ignored.

We've produced too many screwed-up adults that were simply told to suck it up or were riduculed for their feelings.

It seems to me that it should be investigated and discussed to get a better understanding of what the kid is experiencing and why.

They hide behind a cat persona because they can't or don't want to cope with the realities of life and want special attention. It's a way to draw attention to themselves. Now everyone is focused on the poor thing that thinks she's a cat. Her parents have to spend thousands of dollars on psychiatric therapy to get her to understand she's not a cat when she already knows it and is just yanking everyone's chain. 🤨

I'm only willing to put up with so much nonsense. My version of "therapy" is cheaper. OK, fine, you're a cat. You no longer wear clothes. You sleep in a crate. You eat only dry cat food. You poop and pee in a litter box. You stay on the floor. No climbing on the couch or bed. You don't leave the house for any reason except to go to the vet. You're a cat. Let's see how long that lasts.

There was a lady who had plastic surgery to look like a cat.

I really don't believe any of this "news story". This rag is like the National Enquirer.
