Finish This Sentence

You can do it. The hardest part is starting. What motivated you to buy the supplies? Once you start, there may be no stopping you.

I love the idea of painting beach scenes, I just need to bring my supplies down to the beach with me when I go. I especially love the idea of painting the ocean and sky....I love nature and all the colors!

Are you a painter? If you are do you have any tips for the beginner? I believe that I’m a bit intimidated by it!

I'm a painter. Since you love the beach check out my "Beach Inspirations" thread. I took the photo in post #7 and still plan to paint it. Now that you mention it, I've been wondering what to give her for Christmas. Thank you for reminding me! Here's the link:

@Lc jones The way to paint this beach scene is to get a good thick quality watercolor paper, tape it down, paint a masking solution (purchased at art store) where you want areas to remain perfectly white with defined edges like the seagulls against the dark clouds, let it dry and then slightly wet the paper all over. Mix a little water with your paint, amount depends on the transparency you are going for, and then while it's wet, quickly paint the scene letting the sky and sand watercolors bleed into each other. Before the paper dries, blot and swish the areas of the clouds (and white splashes of the waves ) that you want to remain softly white with a clean soft dry rag or tissue. Let the paper dry and then do you details and if you want to add layers of watered down colors overlapping your first set of colors, you can. (when blotting the white splashes of the waves I would use a soft sea sponge [the real kind] but they are hard to find.) Btw, I didn't do this painting shown.

Thanks for the helpful tips! I really love this picture. I plan is to break a project down in pieces as I tend to get overwhelmed with a project and want to do it all on the same day! Today I wrote down the steps I will be taking to paint the sky in this case a sunrise. I also gathered my supplies.Tomorrow I will begin painting portions of the sky. The next day I will move to the landmass. After that I will move to the vegetation. 👍❤️

Good for you. I need to say that the technique I posted for you is one way to do watercolors (on wet paper) but some paint on dry paper for a brighter color look. Or you can create your own technique. (sorry about hijacking the thread)...
I've been meaning to.....
