Fireflies ! Do you get them?

What s sight to behold. I may not see it here in concrete jungle but hopefully, catch them while on vacation out in the country.

We live with over 100 acres of protected forest behind us and we get thousands of fireflies every spring. They are so enchanting and very cool.

Not here in Central Florida, unfortunately; it's too hot for them.

I always looked forward to them in the Blue Ridge. One year, the trees were full of them after a rainstorm. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, twinkling away like tiny Christmas lights.

In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, there are blue fireflies that only appear for a couple of nights. I hope to get to see them one of these years.

We have a lot of fireflies this year....it's kind of neat to step outdoors after dark, and watch them "blinking" all over the yard and forest.

I grew up with them in the northeastern US, but there aren't any in So Cal's desert climate. I loved them when I was a kid.

Funny this topic is here, Last night I sat on the back deck in awe... It looked so magical, looked like a light show, looked like lighter flickering at a concert... it was so kewl to watch...

One landed on my hand three days ago and stayed for about 15 minutes, long enough for me to show the neighbor kid. It's the only one that I have seen so far this year!

Seems this year fire flies are later than usual.
Saw a few when I took the dog out for her last walk.

I miss hearing owls.
