First and Last Jobs

My very first job was washing dishes at a restaurant. My last was purchasing manager for a hotel. Lots of other stuff in between, but I ended up in the same business where I began. How about you?

After I finally came home from S.E .Asia, I went into automotive work and eventually bought my own shop, of which I sold and retired at 57,

My first job was working in an Ames Dept, Store. I did all kinds of things, stocking, working the register, bagging, etc. I made the sales signs. They were the 8 inch by11 signs, "20% Off Polo Shirts". You had to figure out everything in reverse to print a readable sign. At that time, Ames had 14 stores, and I made the sales signs for all 14. Once I made a sign for a sale on' SHIRTS'. I forgot the "R".
The last job was charge nurse at a psychiatric hospital.

He said he would never be a farmer..having to fix the hay baler..many times daily.

LOL, it now appears my last job may be as a farmer. We own a very small peach orchard, its taken care of by a contract farmer. Has been for many years. Problem is he's 91, says he will be retiring at 95 or so. If I outlive him I may become the farmer, this area has rapidly converted farms to subdivisions, not many real farmers left. Not sure I could replace him.
