Florida house for sale has a giant oak tree at the center

Growing up in Michigan there was also a house built around a large tree in our town. Although I can imagine a lot of unusual home features I might actually like, I never understood the attraction having a tree growing through one's home. A tree house ... maybe. A "house tree"? Um ... no thank you.

A cousin of mine had a gigantic oak tree growing in his house. But it was in an atrium, and although completely surrounded by the house, it was actually outdoors.

And it was beautiful - - - until a major limb broke off of the trunk and crushed half the house, including the kitchen and living room. No injuries, thank goodness, but the remaining half of the tree was removed prior to rebuilding.

I've seen a couple of homes on the house buying shows (HGTV) that were built around trees. All had interesting designs but wouldn't be for me. I definitely wouldn't want a big tree in my kitchen.

To each his own....I guess. However, that $900K house will eventually become worthless when that tree dies, or collapses and takes much of the house with it. That place is just one Florida hurricane away from becoming a total loss.

I too noticed that the asking price is 899K,

which might be an additional reason, for why the house has not sold any sooner.:rolleyes::LOL::geek::sneaky:

Thanks for posting, @Robert59
