Altoona couple accused of stealing $60K in Amazon packages

Two Altoona residents are accused of stealing nearly $60,000 in Amazon packages while working as Amazon Flex drivers, Ankeny police said.

Brandon and Madison Kelderman turned themselves in Wednesday morning and are each charged with first-degree theft, a class C felony.
Police said the Keldermans, as Flex drivers, used their personal vehicles to pick up packages from an Ankeny distribution center and then failed to deliver them.

The alleged thefts occurred between Aug. 22 and Sept. 7 after Amazon reported a spike in undelivered parcels.

“We were alerted to this through loss prevention at Amazon. They contacted us and filed a theft report. Essentially, they noticed that several packages had gone missing,” said Sgt. Trevor McGraw, Ankeny Police. “They provided the suspect information.”

Investigators executed a search warrant at the couple’s Altoona home and said they found at least two pallets of undelivered packages from various states.

At 64 years old the guy probably has spent his life being a doormat and simply couldn't take it any longer, he finally snapped! Case closed, innocent by temporary inanity.

Where I live many delivery drivers no longer pull into drives, maybe they don't want to have to back out or mayby afraid of causing damage, I don't know but do know they can cause a hazard.

I recently had an Amazon truck stop just before the crest of a hill and jump out of his truck, I beeped at him and gave him the "what the f**k" hand gesture, he motioned for me to go around. No freaking way would any sensible driver go over a hill on the wrong side of the road, so I had to wait him out. He was back quickly but I still had to shout at him that was a stupid move and he was going to get someone killed, he simply ignored me. Idiot.
Our delivery drivers often do similar stupid parking. Espeically parking on the pavement on corners of a T-junction so traffic can't see around the corner before they pull out onto a main road..
